Giving Something Back
Our payroll giving scheme - Give As You Earn – sees as many as 65% of PPDG employees donating money from their salaries every single month. Recipients vary from environmental projects, educational establishments and charities to talented individuals that would not otherwise have received funding or equipment.
In excess of 500 ‘grass roots’ causes have been supported in this way since 2004, benefiting from more than £200,000. The scheme won national recognition, being named ‘Best Overall Campaign’ at the HM Treasury National Payroll Giving Awards.
We regularly host special fund raising activities in aid of national charities, such as Macmillan coffee mornings, Wooden Spoon Society golf days and dress down days in aid of Shelterbox. We have made significant donations from our ‘disaster fund’ to support those affected by the devastation of tsunami’s in India, earthquakes in Haiti and floods in Pakistan.
Our approach also ensures that the efforts of our most deserving jobseekers are rewarded, with tickets for sporting events and organised trips for lone parents and their children. Refreshment facilities are made available to every client who visits our centre, whilst free access to Credit Unions, micro-finance specialists, internet cafes, child care facilities, health exchanges and language tutors all feature with our Advancement Centres, offering services over and above what we are contracted to deliver.
We communicate at all levels to fully understand the issues and interests of local organisations and community groups. Wherever there is a need, we do our utmost to respond positively.
