How does the Wage Incentive Scheme work?
As an employer, you can take advantage of the 160,000 wage incentives that the Government has made available through the Wage Incentive Scheme. Employ an 18-24 year-old from the Work Programme for at least 26 weeks and you will be entitled to receive a payment of up to £2,275 for each eligible employee. You can take on new employees in a full-time or part-time capacity.
What is the wage incentive for a full-time & part-time job?
A full-time job is classed as employment of 30 hours+, with a wage incentive of £2,275 for each eligible employee. A part-time job is classed as employment of between 16-29 hours, with a wage incentive of £1,137.50 for each eligible employee.
How does an employer claim a wage incentive?
PPDG will work with you to identify suitable candidates. Once you have selected your new employee(s), we will issue you with a claim form. After 26 weeks you will be entitled to claim via the Department for Work and Pensions who will validate the claim and make the payment.
I’m a small business, my cash flow means I can’t wait 26 weeks for payment?
Any business with fewer than 50 employees can choose to make a claim after 8 weeks of employment. A payment of £700 (equivalent of 8 weeks of the wage incentive), can be made to help cash flow (£350 for part-time work).
